‘Fabulous’ Exhibition

I was delighted to be asked to be part of the wonderful exhibitors involved in the great night “Fabulous” held in the very popular “Found out café” Innishannon, Co. Cork.  Deidre Kelly runs this wonderful eatery which is always filled to the brim! Deidre and her friend Paul Looney held an amazing fund raising and awareness night in aid of DAWG, Cork Dog Action Welfare Group.  Liz Mack along with Ann represented DAWG and did a raffle on the opening night with great prizes and lucky winners went home very happy!

Paul himself has rescued 4 German Shepherds and 2 more long-term foster dogs. He has such a heart for his dogs which is evident from all his hard work on putting on a night like this. Anyone who knows me knows my love of dogs also and I have so much respect for all the amazing work the different animal welfare and shelter groups do around our country.  Paul has run and hopes to run many more of these nights to raise awareness and much needed funding to help support and keep these shelters running.

DAWS’s mission is to rescue Cork’s abandoned, abused and neglected dogs and to re-home every dog they rescue. There are many ways in which to help from becoming a fosterer, sponsor a dog, donate, fundraise, volunteer at their sanctuary and more.  Why not visit their website and see fuller details of all the amazing ways they help these abandoned abused dogs here www.dogactionwelfaregroup.ie

The night consisted of a delicious table bursting with delicious finger food, wine and coffee.  Displayed around the walls were the works of gifted arts and crafters, Stephen from Pebbles and Driftwood Art, Mary Nolan O’Brien artist, Jerry Larkin Artist, Collette Quirke Art and myself.  We all enjoyed many red dots and sales on the opening night which was a great way to start the night. I was delighted to sell a piece I had just finished of Garretstown beach which is close to where I live.  It has gone to its new lovely home.

Despite the really vile weather outside, the non-stop pouring rain, there was an amazing welcome with red carpet to all who braved the weather.  There was such a great buzz with laughter, chat and loads of lovely food!

Its really lovely when people make the effort to come out and support us as artists, sometimes the road is a long hard slog so an injection of a night such as this is just what the doctor ordered!  And of course, it’s always important to support local and a great opportunity for Christmas to get ready well ahead of the rush. The best news is the exhibition continues on into December so there is still plenty time to visit and get sorted for your loved ones with Christmas all wrapped up!

Thanks again to all of you who came and supported the night, it was great to see you.
