Welcome
I'm Gill.
A busy Mum of two boys… avid hockey players – lots of smelly socks!! Wife of another avid hockey player and coach. Oh and the bit about me…
I paint landscapes, seascapes and more! Working mainly in oils.
Did I mention my girls – My beautiful golden retriever Bella and Sid the cat! Sadly we had to say goodbye to Jess our beautiful black lab who was part of the family. Also, to our dear loved cat, Mosey who lived her life to the full, 22 years in all.
I have no patience, love things to be where they are supposed to be and hate having to pick up after others! I love the sea, the countryside, peace & quiet and of course animals.

Walk with me through my journey
My childhood was spent growing up on our family farm in the beautiful Cork countryside. Running through my veins from the very get go was a love for animals, especially dogs. One memory was the first day my Dad let the calves out into the field in Spring time. They ran wild, kicking their hind legs up into the air, alive with adrenaline and the excitement of this new adventure. This was freedom! That is how I felt as a child living in the countryside…Free!
Towards the end of my primary school years I found myself out of school for a while with a short illness. It’s true when people say it is best not to give a bored child something to do, because creativity starts and it did for me. I began to draw. I found I could draw, and I liked drawing.
Praise was never a high priority in our house, hard work was and being idle was not part of our family in any shape or form.
And so my artistic journey began.
During secondary school I began to truly love art. I felt as though I had found something that completed me and left me wanting more. It became a purpose, with each piece I was left with a sense of satisfaction, achievement and peace. I continued taking watercolour courses and acrylic courses in the coming years, finding my love for painting growing and improving. Friends and family encouraged me along the way which I found affirming.
After being married for a few years my sons came along and you know how that goes!! My brushes took a prolonged break until one day my husband gave me the push I needed to start painting again and so I did.
Change happened...
The loft in our garage full of inherited furniture from grand aunties got a big spring clean and I now had my gallery. It was amazing to have my own space.
I enrolled in a two year college course in drawing and painting. Grounding me in a way I never imagined, as students helping us not to be too precious about our work and learning to throw it out was a difficult learning curve for me but so valuable. I haven’t looked back.
When I walk into my gallery I feel a sense of calm, of peace, creating a painting brings me closer to God. It is His creation that inspires me daily, especially the sea which is nearby. It just fills my boots, how blessed! I am inspired by nature, bursting with ideas, textures and colours waiting to be put down on canvas.
How I Work
Inspiration comes a lot to me in my dreams, and I try to keep these images alive when I work. I work mainly in oils, starting from the sky down, layering as I go. I use palette knife, hands, brushes, lots of things really! Seeing what evolves as I see life come to my landscapes, seascapes and more. My great joy will be, that my work flows onto the canvas, resonates in your hearts and will be loved in your homes.
As well as galleries, I love to exhibit in local shops, cafes and exhibitions, so you can feel at ease browsing my work. I am delighted you are able to join me here on my website, you are most welcome!
10% of all profits of any of my paintings go to New Hope for Children. It helps provide art supplies for the children helping them to use their creativity.
